Candela offers a wide variety of  fine art digital printing papers for fine art printing. Contact us if you need a recommendation – we are happy to help!

Fine Art Rag and Cotton Baryta Papers

We are accredited by Hahnemuhle as a Certified Studio for Digital Fine Art Printing - one of only two studios on the West Coast!  We use Photo Rag Baryta, Fine Art Pearl, Photo Rag Matte, and William Turner extensively. These are premium papers that have luxurious appearance and feel great in hand, and offer excellent archival performance.

Hahnemühle Photo Rag Baryta: An excellent hybrid paper for color and black-and-white printing. It shares the same base as Hahnemühle's Photo Rag matte paper (see description below) but has a semigloss finish. OBA - free.

Hahnemühle Fine Art Baryta: 325gsm semigloss baryta paper with slight texture and a bright white base color. Contains OBAs.

Hahneühle Photo Rag 308 matte : Hahnemühle Photo Rag was one of the original great papers for archival pigment printing. Thick (308gsm) paper, matte surface (no gloss whatsover) with a very smooth surface.

Hahnemuhle William Turner: William Turner is a textured paper; it feels like a cold press watercolor paper and is excellent for artwork reproduction.

RC and Enhanced Matte Papers

For more traditional and less expensive paper choices, we have Premium Luster RC (resin coated) paper that offer incredible color gamut and detail. This uses a thinner paper base than our fine art papers. Premium Luster is similar in appearance to Fuji Crystal Archive Matte paper used in LightJet (digital c-print) and minilab printing, but with better color gamut, sharpness and archival performance than traditional chromagenic papers.

Enhanced Matte:  If you're looking for an economical, true matte surface paper, Enhanced Matte is a good choice. It is matte finish (no gloss whatsoever), with a bright white base. In comparison with the premium matte fine art papers like Photo Rag 308, the blacks are not as deep, and it is thinner - it feels more like cardstock than a fine paper.

Canvas

Breathing Color Lyve : A matte surface canvas with a bright white and deep blacks for excellent contrast. Smooth surface offers photorealistic prints and excellent color gamut. The canvas is varnished after printing with Breathing Color's Timeless varnish for a richer appearance, increased UV protection, and water resistance.

Custom media:

We can profile and print on nearly any material, from handmade Japanese rice paper to metallic papers for custom projects and portfolios.

File specs

How should I prepare my files and what file formats do you accept?

We accept Jpeg, Tiff, PNG and PSD. Please send uncompressed .jpg or .tif files. Be sure to flatten them and remove any alpha channels prior to uploading.

My file is over 100 megabytes in size! How do I send it to you?

No problem, you can use our large file upload page.

What resolution should my files be?

We prefer to receive files that are 300dpi at the size you want them printed. However we can make great prints from files as low as 150dpi. Please do not increase dpi to 300dpi if your file was not created at that size to begin with - this usually has a negative effect on print quality. We have a step-by-step file preparation guide for your reference. If you’re unsure, contact us.

We do examine each and every file before printing so if we thing your file will not print well we will contact you before printing.
